You can pretty much just follow the instructions under docs/build inside
the allegro folder but i wanted to make things a little quicker. First you
need to install everything you need, mainly MinGW which you can download
below.
1. Install MinGW into C:\MinGW
2. Add C:\MinGW\bin to PATH
3. Add MINGDIR to the environment and set it to C:\MinGW
Your MinGW should run now! You can test this by using "gcc -v" in the
terminal.
Next, download and add the minimal DirectX 7 SDK (dx70_mgw.zip) to your
MinGW installation by just extracting the zip into C:\MinGW. Finally to
make Allegro and install it, download the zip for version 4.2 and extract
it. Open the terminal inside the extracted folder and do the following
steps:
1. Run "fix.bat mingw"
2. Run "mingw32-make"
* use STATICLINK=1 for static lib instead of DLL
* use DEBUGMODE=1 or PROFILEMODE=1 for debug/profile build
3. Run "mingw32-make install" (with exact parameters like before)
This should build and install everything, i.e. your includes and libs
should be in your MinGW installation.
